Eileen is a member of our accounting team. She makes a vital contribution to the agency! Here is a quick Q&A with Eileen!

What is your role at KRA?

I am an accountant for KRA. I am responsible for recording all cash receipts and disbursements for the agency. I ensure that the insurance companies are paid on a timely basis for those policies that are agency-billed. I prepare the bank reconciliation on a monthly basis for the trust account and order supplies as needed.

What would people never guess you do in your role?

Tie everything to the penny! Maybe you would believe that because I’m an accountant! I have friends that never record the checks they write or balance their checkbooks. Whether it’s a business or personal account, I think it’s important to know exactly how much money is in the bank.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I like the analysis work that I do with the commissions and making sure that all amounts are properly allocated to the appropriate departments. I also like the camaraderie that I have with my coworkers.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Before working here, the most interesting job that I had was being a stay-at-home mom with my children. It was challenging and different every day. It’s the one job I had with no time off but the rewards were priceless.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?

I love to read,  go to the beach, and go to sporting events. I love to go to spin class, but during the summer I love to go for walks outside instead. I especially enjoy watching my children play soccer and basketball. I enjoy going out to dinner, going to Broadway plays, and going on vacation.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

My family!

What is your hidden talent or an interesting fact about you?

My hidden talent is that I make fabulous chocolate chip cookies, or at least that is what I’m told! In fact, they are award-winning. They won first place at the church picnic. That counts, right?

What is your favorite movie and book? Why?

My favorite movie is It’s a Wonderful Life. For as long as I can remember, I have loved to watch this movie at Christmas time. I still cry as if it’s the first time that I am watching it. It’s a touching movie about a man who believes his family would be better off if he had never been born. Through the help of his guardian angel, he realizes how many lives he has touched and that he truly has a wonderful life. It’s a beautiful reminder that life is about family and the friendships you make along the way. Through our actions, each of us can make a significant impact on the lives of one another without even realizing it.

What is your motto, personal mantra, or favorite quote?

Ellen DeGeneres always ends her talk show by saying, “Be kind to one another.” I love that quote! It is such a simple statement yet something that I strive for in my daily interactions with others.

When are you happiest?

I am happiest when I am with my family.
