Jill Aroeste

Receptionist

Meet Jill Aroeste

Jill is our receptionist and is a vital member of our team! Here is a quick Q&A with Jill!

What is your role at KRA?

I am the receptionist here, but I wear additional hats as needed. My front desk duties include answering the phones, greeting clients and company representatives on a daily basis, processing incoming and outgoing mail, office shredding, and other necessary tasks. I also help the personal lines and commercial lines departments with assorted duties. I work with the accounting department by entering commissions and running reports, some licensing, and whatever else is asked of me. I also enter all form letters into our internal management system, which benefits each department in dealing with their clients.

What would people never guess you do in your role?

I guess it might surprise people to know that I have been with KRA for more than 30 years now. I have been loyal to them as they have been to me. It has become my second home and family, and I do enjoy what I do.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I am definitely a “people person” and have a nice relationship with the insurance company representatives and clients when they call or stop by in person.

Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

When I was in junior high school and high school, I worked in a beauty salon owned by my mom’s friend. I got to see all the latest styles at the time and got my hair done free when needed.

What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?

I love going out to dinner with friends and family, as well as going to the movies and concerts.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

I could never live without books. I am an avid reader, generally reading a book a week when I can. Reading was very important in my house when I was younger.

What is your hidden talent or an interesting fact about you?

I love to do needlepoint and crochet. I love making things for my family and friends. Making a homemade gift for someone shows them how important they are to you, that you took the time out just for them.

What is your favorite movie and/or book? Why?

For some crazy reason, I have always loved the movie Mr. Roberts. I cry at the end every time I watch it. I loved the friendship between Henry Fonda and Jack Lemmon and the trust they had in each other. My favorite book as a child was The Diary of Anne Frank. I loved her determination and caring for everyone that lived in the cramped space where they hid from the Nazi army. I had several relatives that had to endure the same situation during the Holocaust, which made me connect to her.

What is your motto, personal mantra, or favorite quote?

People can always hear me saying “not for nothing” or “it is what it is.”

When are you happiest?

I am happiest when I am spending time with friends and especially with my family. I have been a single parent for over 30 years now, and I enjoy time with my only child, Ian, and his wife, Lisa. We do many things together on the weekends.
