Deborah works as a Client Manager in our Commercial Lines department and has been instrumental in making sure our clients are well taken care of. Here is a quick Q & A with Deborah!
What is your role at KRA?
I am a Client Manager in the Commercial Lines department. I work closely with our account executives, insurance companies and insureds to ensure that our insured’s needs are being fulfilled. I provide the day-to-day maintenance and service to those insureds assigned to me. I answer the phone, prepare endorsement requests, and monitor the timely return and accuracy of requested information from the carriers. I review forms, policies, requests from insureds for insurance requirements. In addition, I also prepare certificates of insurance, evidence of property, and summaries of insurance as needed. As a client manager, it is my responsibility to maintain client files relative to computer input and communicate effectively with our insureds, companies and fellow staff.
What would people never guess you do in your role?
I am not sure there are any areas of my role that people would never guess that I do.
What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?
The aspect I most enjoy about my job is dealing with our insureds and insurance carriers. Though sometimes you never get the opportunity to meet them, you create this bond and feeling that you have known them for a long time. You get a personal attachment to people and are genuinely concerned with their well being.
Before working here, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Before working in the insurance industry, I worked for a veterinarian’s office. I worked in all aspects of helping to care for the animals. For instance, I assisted in taking x-rays, assisted in the operating and recovery rooms, and also worked in those areas that are not so glamorous such as cleaning of the cages and trying to handle a not-so-friendly dog or cat.
What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
Outside of work I like to read books, create crafts with my daughter, watch reality shows, play with our dog, Sandy, and just hang out with family.
What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
One thing I could not live without is my family.
What is your hidden talent or an interesting fact about you?
One interesting fact about me is that I played volleyball for my four years in college and was “All Conference” each year. My senior year of college, I was selected as Female Athlete of the Year.
What is your favorite movie and/or book? Why?
With having a daughter who is 10, the movies I get to see are all kid-friendly. I enjoy all the movies I get to share with my daughter and watching how she reacts to them is priceless. One belly laugh is all I need to make any movie my favorite.
What is your motto, personal mantra, or favorite quote?
I always tell my daughter that she can do anything and be anything she wants to be with hard work and dedication.
When are you happiest?
I am my happiest when I have my family around me.
